The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, in partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran Summer Music, invites you to a four-day skill-strengthening gathering for church musicians at Valparaiso University from Monday, July 23 to Thursday, July 26, 2018.
This gathering aims to provide a rich variety of access points to effective music ministry with emphases on practical skills and the convergent, multi-disciplinary concerns of the life of the church musician. To that end, we will have exciting guest speakers (faculty) who will share their points of view and experiences in short, concentrated plenary talks throughout the event. These talks will surround four blocks of group learning sessions in which presenters will address the everyday concerns of ministry, and unpack their perspectives with hands-on activities, teaching, and conversation.

$175 2nd person same address (home or church)
$150 Tuesday only (includes lunch)

Lutheran Summer Music
Our gathering will take place in residence at Valparaiso University during the final week of the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival. This will allow for opportunities to learn, worship, and make music together with young musicians grades 8-12. You are welcome to stay after the ALCM event and participate in the various events the Lutheran Summer Music offers throughout the weekend. Beginning on Thursday and finishing on Sunday they will offer a band, choir, and orchestra concert coupled with many student recitals, a musical theater performance, and a jazz band concert, ending with a festival Eucharist on Sunday, July 29.
Valparaiso University Campus
Most of our event sessions and meals will take place in the Harre Union Conference Center (#31 on the campus map) and the Chapel of the Resurrection next door. Some sessions will take place elsewhere on campus or in nearby churches. Transportation to off-site venues will be arranged for those who will not drive to campus.
