Workshop Content Information

Church musicians, pastors, worship committee members, and volunteer musicians will discover inspiration, resources, practical tips, and fellowship during this workshop day. We will explore the reasons behind our ministry, find ways to engage all ages in hymn and choral singing, and take a careful look at one of our oldest songbooks: the Psalms.

Presenters

Jan Kraybill is a musical leader, dynamic speaker, Grammy-nominated performer, educator, organ consultant, and enthusiastic advocate for the power of music to change lives for the better. Visit www.jankraybill.com for more information.

Linda Martin has extensive experience in teaching classroom music and private voice lessons, directing choirs of all ages and presenting music and worship workshops. She is especially interested in encouraging and nourishing faith life through music and worship participation

Nara Newcomer is a parish musician at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Olathe, KS, where her responsibilities include playing organ, directing the choir and handbell choir, and cultivating individual musicians. Nara is also head of UMKC’s Music/Media Library.

Pastor Mark Schulz has served as a Lutheran pastor for 37 years, and as senior pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mission and Shawnee, Kansas for the past 10 years. He enjoys singing, chanting, and playing the piano, following in the footsteps of his mother and mother-in-law, both of whom were Lutheran church organists and church choir members.

Lara West is passionate about church music, especially congregational song, and puts that into practice in her role as Music Minister and Organist at Trinity Lutheran Church of Mission, KS. She is also active as an organ teacher in Atchison, KS, where her studio includes Benedictine College students, middle school and high school students, and adults.
