Position Summary
The Organist is a central figure the life of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, providing faithful leadership in planning and preparing music appropriate to the liturgy, collaborating with music and pastoral staff to support the programming of the church, and creating a worship experience that proclaims and illuminates the written and spoken word.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plays organ or piano for two weekly Sunday services (8:30am and 11am) and special services (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, etc).
- Accompanies rehearsals (Children’s Choir, Adult Choir, Handbell Choir as needed) on Wednesday evenings. Attends weekly worship planning meetings on Wednesday afternoons.
- At his or her discretion, provides organ music for all weddings, funerals, and memorial services at the church (additional compensation per established Wedding Policy).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent. Masters or Doctorate preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience as an Organist within a parish musical department.
