John Seboldt, aged 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, surrounded by family at his home in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin after a 20-month battle with leukemia.
John was born in 1953 to Reverend Roland and Marcella Seboldt. He attended schools in the Chicago and St. Louis areas before graduating from Jefferson High School in 1971, and earned the Class 1 Radio Certificate in line with his interest in electronics. He went on to study organ performance with William Kuhlman and graduated from Luther College in 1975. John then earned a master’s degree and pursued doctoral studies in pipe organ performance at University of Iowa where he met his wife Mary.
John had long careers in music, recording, and broadband technology. He worked as a cable technician for over 15 years and served as director of music and organist at several churches in the Midwest throughout his extensive music career.
John had a lifelong passion for electronics, exemplified by the many nights he’d spend tinkering on his ham radio and making connections with people across the world. Science fiction and fantasy captured his imagination, especially when it involved spiritual questions of the cosmos and our place in it.
John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Mary, daughters Naomi (Zak) and Anna, sister Gayle (Ken), and brother Steve (Peggy). John is preceded in death by his brother Paul, as well as parents Roland and Marcella.
John’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at All Saint’s Cathedral: 818 E. Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee, WI. There will be a visitation at 10:00am, and service at 11:00am.
