JOB DESCRIPTION

CHURCH ORGANIST/PIANIST

Must read music

Select appropriate hymns based on weekly scripture texts.

Play organ or piano for Saturday 5:30 p.m. worship services and/or Sunday 9:00 a.m. worship

services.

Accompanying the Bethany Lutheran congregation on hymns and liturgies of the

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Playing a prelude before the service and a postlude after the service.

Play for funerals when available.

Recruit instrumentalists for special music.

CHOIR DIRECTOR

Select appropriate anthems for 2-3 services per month from September through May.

Recruit singers.

Rehearse during the week to prepare for Sunday.

Maintain the choir library.

Accompany anthems or find an accompanist to do so.
