Congratulations to Deanna Witkowski, whose new book Mary Lou Williams: Music for the Soul will be available at the end of August. Deanna writes: “My new biography, Mary Lou Williams: Music for the Soul (Liturgical Press) comes out at the end of August. There is so much in this book related to Williams’s sacred music, including her three jazz Masses– and there will soon be an opportunity for more churches to use some of Williams’s sacred music. I’m creating a new performance edition of Williams’s third jazz Mass for the MLW Foundation.
