Please keep ALCM member Deborah Govenor in your prayers. Her husband, Paul Bartels, died July 3, 2023. Here is the obituary:
Paul J. Bartels, 68, died peacefully with his wife by his side July 3, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Karl J. and Mary N. (Stolz) Bartels.
Paul graduated from Columbus North High School in 1973. He then attended Capital University and graduated with a B.A. in Education in 1977. Paul taught German and English in the Columbus Public Schools for 30 years and in retirement worked for Bar Harbor Cellars Winery for the past 15 years. He and his wife Deborah Smith Govenor were married for 29 years.
Paul was involved in the Columbus Symphony Chorus, Vocal Baroque, Voice Columbus, Capital City Barbershop Chorus, Acadia Chorale, Mt. Desert Summer Chorale, St. John Chamber Singers, and various church choirs, most recently at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.
