Vivian (Rudolf) Rindelaub, age 89 5/6 years, of Alexandria, formerly of Waseca, Marcell, and Grand Rapids, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at her home. She was the mother of ALCM executive director Jim Rindelaub and was herself also a member of ALCM.
Vivian was born January 18, 1935, in Wheatland, North Dakota, the daughter of Leopold and Frieda (Ketterling) Rudolf. Baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Zeeland, North Dakota and confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, North Dakota. She graduated from Wishek High School with honors in 1953 as president of her class and the editor of the school paper. Graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 1957. Followed by her most gratifying position as Parish Worker at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca where she met and married Adolph Michael (Ike) Rindelaub on August 28, 1960. Three children were born to this union. Vivian and Ike owned and operated Rindelaubs Bakery in Waseca. Vivian started as an Aide in the Waseca public school system and retired in 1997, as Payroll Specialist after 25 years.
All her life she was active in all church activities and held offices in the local WELCA, the Conference and Northeast Synod simultaneously. She enjoyed all the areas she volunteered in. In 1972 she started the St. John Lutheran Church quilting group in Waseca which is still very active today. She arranged programs every Sunday for 13 years for Fellowship Hour at St. John.
She considered it a privilege to accompany soloists, groups, and choirs for 60 some years. Especially the traveling Waseca Trio. She also enjoyed singing alto in the choirs. She was organist at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek, North Dakota, St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna, St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, and Suomi Lutheran Church near Deer River.
Bringing her great joy were the 70 + pots of flowers she had in Alexandria during the summer. She asked God to make them beautiful and she would do the work. Later in life she picked up her knitting and knit over 700 stocking caps for various charities including “Hat not Hate” and over 150 squares for ”Warm up America”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike, on January 19, 2019; parents; grandparents; precious infant daughter, Jayne Marie; and brother, Rev. Russell Rudolf. Vivian is survived by her two children, James (Stephanie) Rindelaub of Satellite Beach, Florida and Julia Parent of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Matthew Rindelaub of New York, New York, Justin Parent of Anoka, and Shelby Parent of North Macedonia; two “bonus” grandsons, Eric Baker of New Brighton and Steven Baker of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Dr. Lou Rudolf of Billings, Montana; and sister-in-law, Jane Rudolf, Middletown, Ohio.
