Organist Position – updated salary range
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Ephrata, PA is a congregation that celebrates the traditional Lutheran liturgies and sacraments of the church. The church dates to 1868, when it was organized as the first church within Ephrata Borough. The present church building was constructed in 1952. The church contains a three manual Moller pipe organ with an exposed trumpet rack of pipes.
The service musician will:
· Provide musical support for all worship services, including Sundays, evenings in Lent and Advent, Holy Week services, Christmas Eve services, and other services as needed
· Plan music and liturgy in conjunction with the Worship and Music Committee
· Provide music for weddings and funerals; be available to meet with families to discuss music for these events
· Rehearse with choir as needed
· Rehearse with soloist(s) who provide special music
· Oversee maintenance of the organ and grand piano, including service and tuning
· Maintain the music library
· Maintain copyright compliance at all times
· Submit information concerning music to the church office for inclusion in the bulletin
· Prepare an annual music budget
· Secure substitute organists as needed
· Undertake other duties assigned by the pastor and/or the Worship and Music Committee as necessary to enhance the worship experience of the congregation
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
· Proficiency in organ performance, with a deep understanding of liturgical music and hymnody
· Proficiency with the use of a three manual Moller pipe organ
· Familiarity with traditional Lutheran liturgy, liturgical music and hymnody
· Ability to sight read hymns
· Flexibility to attend rehearsals and services at varying times
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
· Acquisition of appropriate clearances and background checks
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation will be based on experience and abilities; Salary range $30,000 – $35,000
Two weeks of vacation per year
Continuing education dues and fees within approved budget
