Organist Job Description

1.     The responsibilities of the New Life in Christ Lutheran Church include the following:

a.     Prepare for and play the organ for every service.

i.      Sundays: one service at 10 am

ii.      Additional services as follows:

1.     Wednesday evenings during Advent (3-4 weeks leading up to Christmas) at 7:15.

2.     Wednesday evenings during Lent (Ash Wednesday, and the 6 Wednesdays that follow) at 7:15

3.     Maundy Thursday evening service at 7:15 pm

4.     Good Friday evening service at 7:15 pm

5.     Easter Sunday: two services at 7 am and 10 am

6.     Christmas Eve evening service at 4 pm

2.     Playing for each service:

a.     Prelude(s) prior to the beginning of the service for approximately 5+ minutes

b.     All hymns (normally 3 per service)

c.      Liturgy for all services

d.     Offertory (organ solo) maybe

e.     Quiet music during Communion

f.       Postlude following close of service while people exit sanctuary 5-10 minutes.

g.     Occasionally a funeral. Time TBD.

i.      This service is the same as a Sunday worship service, but without Communion.
