Conferences
Conferences offer a unique opportunity for participants to learn from fellow musicians, clergy, and scholars from around the country, to share ideas, to be inspired, and to catch up with old friends and make new ones. ALCM hosts three kinds of events:
- Every two years in odd-numbered years ALCM hosts a national biennial conference (see list below).
- From 1988 through 2016 in even-numbered years, each region hosted a conference
- In 2022 and 2024 a conference was held on the campus of Valparaiso University (indented in the list below). Held in conjunction with Lutheran Summer Music, this conference differs from biennial conferences in that its emphasis is on skill-building and the more practical issues related to worship & music.
- Beginning in 2018 in both even- and odd-numbered years, events are held in different areas of the United States. These Hearts • Hands • Voices events are local half- or full-day skills-based workshops organized and hosted by ALCM members.
