It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you the news that ALCM charter member Lorraine Brugh died Saturday, January 25 in her sleep. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the end of August, and though initially she did well with treatments, she had recently become increasingly weak. Lorraine’s husband Gary shared these words in a text he sent out the day after her death:
“She fought a hard fight, but now she is in her eternal home. I will miss her, as she was the love of my life and the one I looked to for comfort, insight, and guidance. We had 51 fabulous years together, with so many adventures shared, and a wonderful son and his wife and two grandsons that brought us so much joy.” You can read Lorraine’s full obituary here.
A service of remembrance and thanksgiving for Lorraine’s life will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10:30 a.m. (MST), at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, 25150 N. Pima Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85255, followed by interment in the church’s memorial garden. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 10:15 with pre-service music: https://control.resi.io/webplayer/video.html?id=02e4b9d1-44ee-4e68-9a37-585ad8ca4c29.

Valparaiso University will also hold a memorial service for Lorraine at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Chapel of the Resurrection. Additional information will be available closer to the date of the service.
Lorraine was the recipient of ALCM’s Faithful Servant Award in 2023, and her bio is included in that link. Anne Krentz Organ’s July 2021 video interview with Lorraine about her life and career can be found on the Center for Church Music website (the link for her interview is at the bottom of the page).
Please keep Lorraine’s husband Gary and son Josh and his family in your prayers.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory!
