Cantor

Luther Memorial Church and Academy, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located in downtown Erie, PA, seeks a Cantor. Cantor has full responsibilities for the congregation’s mutli-faceted music program including: Adult Choir, Handbell Choir, Concert Series (for which the Cantor serves as Artistic Director), and other congregational musicians.

Under the Cantor’s care are our various instruments which include:

Organs:
1993: Allen Renaissance, 4-manual (main balcony)
1999: Allen Renaissance, 3-manual (chapel)
2018: OSI unified 3-rank, 2-manual pipe organ

Handbells & Handchimes:
5 octaves – Malmark
3 octaves – Whitechapel
2 octaves handchimes

Pianos:
Yamaha grand (main church)
Baby grand
Spinet

Keyboards:
Kurzweil
Yamaha Clavinova

Timpani: two drums

Carillon: – Schulmerich with indoor & outdoor speakers

There are also various programs of Luther Memorial Academy, a K-8 school with around 100 children. The level of involvement with the Academy is negotiable.

This is a salaried position and hours are negotiable.

Ability to use stairs (sometimes multiple times in one service) is a requirement of this position.
