Do you send your students to the Dorian Festivals and camps? Do you think that maybe you would like to participate or wish you could? Take a look at the Choral Retreat! This year the Choral Retreat will be held from June 28th-30th. The weekend will provide the opportunity to sing, learn, and be in fellowship with other singers! We are so pleased to welcome our 2024 keynote speaker, Shawn Kirchner, to campus as well! Shawn Kirchner is a composer, arranger, and songwriter based in Los Angeles (and Cedar Falls, IA native) whose choral works are performed throughout the world.
The weekend will feature choral rehearsals on exciting repertoire, break-out sessions for the career musicians, and other sessions for those looking to just get some “Decorah time” during the weekend. In addition, there will be plenty of social activities offered as a chance to connect with new and old friends who share a love for singing. Andrew Last ‘97, Director of Choral Activities at Luther College, will be leading the rehearsals along with other guest music faculty.
The retreat will conclude with an event called “Livssang,” the Norwegian term for “life singing.” We hope the retreat is just that for you – an opportunity to continue singing, connect with musicians, recharge your batteries, and visit our beautiful campus!
