For Such a Time as This

We lead music in a time of a changing church. Come explore the challenges and opportunities some of these changes present. What skills are needed to lead smaller assemblies and ensembles? How do we help our congregations talk about music in new ways? How do we lead music in a more relational style? A brief opening conversation will frame the context using information gleaned from congregations across New England and invite us to think about how we address music formation in this time. The first workshop will explore how to work with the musicians you have in your congregation already – younger and older, more and less experienced, and perhaps not a perfectly balanced orchestra, band, or choir. The second workshop will explore skills for leading small ensembles including keeping two-part anthems interesting for everyone.  We will close the day with an Easter Prayer Around the Cross.
