Cross View Lutheran Church is a vibrant, growing congregation seeking an experienced organist to lead our traditional 8:15 am worship and extra services during festival seasons. He/she will also accompany choirs and soloist rehearsals.
Reports to: Dr. David Mennicke, Director of Music and Choir Ministries
Holtkamp Organ, 2 manuals, 27 stops, 28 ranks
Responsibilities:
Support & lead the congregation at the organ/piano in the singing of hymns and liturgies.
Select organ music that is related to the theme of the service and season.
Rehearse with song leaders before worship each Sunday.
Accompany adult choir/women’s choir/soloists at Wednesday evening rehearsals (Choirs meet September-May) and in traditional worship services.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in organ or equivalent formal training.
Experience in a similar position or equivalent.
Knowledge and understanding of Lutheran service music.
Varied repertoire for the liturgical year.
Strong sight-reading skills; improvisation or preparation of creative hymn accompaniments preferred.
Skilled at organ and piano keyboards; accompany with ease.
