This full-time position is responsible for planning music for worship services throughout the year and supervising/developing the music program and staff, both paid and volunteer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a Christ-centered, creative, imaginative, and passionate attitude about worship

Support the mission and ministry of Indianola First United Methodist Church

Build the church’s Worship Arts Ministry by identifying, recruiting, training, and deploying people to serve in a variety of worship ministry teams

Arranges for, directs, and administers the worship ministry teams; serves as accompaniment for soloists and groups as needed

Oversees all church equipment related to worship including pianos, organ, band, sound, projector, and streaming equipment

Oversees all software technology related to the music program including powerpoint, video, recording, and streaming

Manages the music funds and the music library including the selecting and purchasing of music and ensures appropriate licenses and permissions are obtained for use in both in-person worship and online

lCoordinates with pastors and staff to plan worship services that offer creative, multi-sensory worship experiences

Coordinates with other ministries of the church by serving as staff liaison to the Worship

Committee, Welcome Committee, and other associated teams

Shares duties with other staff in creating and managing a variety of content that communicates the role of music in the life of the church and its ministries via church related platforms including bulletin announcements, in-service announcements, projector reel, and social media

Oversees and administers worships and music content as it relates to the church website and social media. Maintenance of the archival record of past live streamed and recorded worship and music events Liaison for outside groups.

COMPETENCIES AND EXPECTATIONS

● Education: secondary education with preference given to candidates with related

post secondary education or comparable experience

● Experience: preference given to candidates with United Methodist Church background

● Skills and Qualities

○ Music: Ability to conduct vocal and instrumental groups, have working knowledge

of music theory and music comprehension, ability to assist vocalists and bands with

music selection or other needs

○ Administrative: Organized, ability to plan worship, flexible, ability to manage a

budget, able to develop multimedia presentations, able to communicate goals of the

ministry

○ Personable: Able to recruit new participants, friendly, versatile, team player

○ Willingness to explore new worship options and to create variety in style and focus

as society and the church evolves

○ Ability to play piano and/or other musical instrument(s)

○ Experience with video recording and sting software a plus
